Paralympian Richael Timothy Visits St. Matthew’s N.S.
We were delighted to welcome Richael Timothy back to St Matthew’s National School yesterday as part of the Dare to Believe Olympic Schools Programme.
Richael is an accomplished sportsperson who has represented her native county, County Roscommon, in Gaelic football and has also represented Ireland as a talented soccer player. Since joining the Irish Para Cycling squad in 2018, she has made remarkable progress, representing Ireland at World Championships in both track and road cycling.
Richael is also a qualified Sports Scientist and Exercise Physiologist and continues to study and work with Setanta College.
During her visit, Richael met with all classes throughout the school and spoke in more detail with the 5th and 6th class pupils, sharing her inspiring journey in sport. She spoke about perseverance, resilience, and the importance of believing in yourself when working towards your goals.
Richael is currently hoping to qualify for the 2028 Summer Paralympics, and we wish her the very best of luck as she continues her journey.
The pupils greatly enjoyed meeting Richael and were inspired by her achievements and positive attitude. We are very grateful to Richael and the Dare to Believe programme for giving our pupils such a memorable and motivating experience.
