SISK Visit - Science Week
We welcomed Abi, Mark and Cathal from SISK Engineering to our school last Thursday. They are currently working on a new development at Center Parcs here in Ballymahon. SISK are kindly donating all of their plastic bottles and cans from their Ballymahon site to our Parent's Association fundraiser.
When they visited, they made their first generous drop of bottles and also made a presentation to Mr Joyce and Ms Farrell's fifth classes. They spoke about the work they do and also the important role science and engineering play in our everyday lives. We asked them lots of questions and we're sure we have some future engineers among us!
Fifth class put in a huge effort for this day and prepared and presented research projects of their own based on the past, present and future uses of plastic and bottle recycling. Each pupil was kindly gifted a SISK pencil and ruler (all made from recycled plastic!). Our project winners received a prize and both classes were treated to a hot chocolate party thanks to our PA as a reward for all of their hard work. What a great way to celebrate Science Week 2025! Thank you to everyone involved!
If you would like to get involved and support this initiative, please drop any suitable containers in to the 'Return' bin at the front of the school or give them to any of our pupils as all classes are participating in 'Battle of the Bottles' each term.
